073: 2013 Gift Guide – Pt. 1

Well hello there fine chaps! It seems it is that fine time of year again when we all start gearing up for the holidays. The parties are planned and scheduled, good times are shared, and goodfaith compromises are made on how much weight gain is acceptable between Thanksgiving and Jan 2nd. For most people it’s also a time of exchanging gifts, and in case any of you are looking for a little inspiration we’re here to prep you before you find yourself wandering the mall on Dec 17th in a spiked-eggnog fueled daze with no idea what to get anyone except your self. Also, don’t forget my birthday falls conveniently halfway between now and the old 25th of December so anything you want to pop in the mail is up to you. Follow the jump to see what’s in store.

005: Red Hook Longhammer, Your Everyday IPA

Beer has become one of my passions over the last few years, and I love to share that passion with others. In that spirit I plan to bring regular Monday postings on the best and the worst of the things I try. But, before we dive into this first one I would like to make a few disclosures.

1. I am not a beer snob. I can just as much joy in guzzling half a dozen Miller High Lifes as I can in slowly sipping my way through 3 or 4 intricate craft beers.

2. I am not a beer nerd. I plan on starting to brew one day soon, but I have no intimate knowledge of the science and art of beer making.

3. I am not a beer┬áconnoisseur. My palette is not intricate and refined. Sure I can pick out things like a strong citrus or coffee flavor, and I can tell the difference between things that are bitter and sweet, but at the end of the day I usually can’t tell you a whole lot about the flavor profile of a beer.

Now that that’s all off my chest, let us begin.
